Carbohydrate Connundrum

A few years ago, Dylan and I penned an article titled Carbohydrate Conundrum: Why Canadians Can’t Fit Into Their Skinny Genes.

The crux of the article dealt with our current carbohydrate intake recommendations, and how they in no way reflect our evolutionary eating pattern.

The short article should help explain why we think re-establishing a sedentary carbohydrate intake of 100-150 g/day makes a lot of sense. Obviously, when training intensely (or for those individuals with good carbohydrate sensitivity) those total will be higher, but for the every day office worker, learning to limit starchy carbohydrates and prioritize vegetables, berries, beans and fruit makes a lot of sense.

Give it a read and let us know what you think!
